It is interesting that Hot Minute, one of our more complex arrangements, was written well before Cairo even existed. The song, which was built around the keyboard riff in the chorus, was originally born from bedroom jams between myself (JP) and Dan. Although there was certainly a catchy element to the track, it wasn't until the 4 of us worked on it that it really took form, notably the breakdown in the middle. This is one of the few songs on the album that we used a click track, although only for certain parts of the song.
The gang vocals were the product of two separate geniuses, engineer/producer Paul Boechler and Wilsners, one part red wine and one part Pilsner. We had the entire band in the live room, as well as Paul and assistant engineer Cody Stevens, belting out the line "we all know". The Wilsners get a particular nod of the cap, as I don't think we would have got Dan and Tristan singing without some liquid motivation. The hand claps in the outro were thought up by Mark and Paul during a 2am vocals session.
I think this song is often misconstrued as an homage to womanizing, when in fact it is the narrative of a timid 24 year old being way out of his element.

Questions delivered, dance floor reprise
Your conversation is everything I need
We move together like we’re unseen
Rhythm, your movement, are taking over me
We all know that you won’t tell
It’s a game of wear it well
A simple move, break the spell
It’s a game of wear it well
We all know
Night lasts forever, drink after drink
She pulls my head close, knows every thought I think
Her breath on my face, body pressed in tight
We know the answer won’t be found tonight
We all know you won’t tell
It’s a game of wear it well
A simple move, break the spell
It’s a game of wear it well
